This training provides older adults\, family caregivers\, professionals\, and others who support aging populations with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize common scams\, reduce risk\, and respond effectively when fraud occurs. Participants will explore current scam trends\, warning signs\, prevention strategies\, and available resources to help protect themselves\, their clients\, loved ones\, and communities from financial exploitation and fraud. \n\nObjectives \n\n\nReview current scam and fraud trends affecting older adults and other vulnerable populations.\n\n\nIdentify common types of scams\, warning signs\, and strategies for prevention.\n\n\nDiscuss steps to take if you or someone you support becomes the victim of a scam.\n\n\nExplore ways professionals\, caregivers\, and family members can help reduce the risk of fraud and financial exploitation.\n\n\nLocate resources for reporting scams\, seeking assistance\, and accessing consumer protection information.\n\n\n\nFacilitator\nLauren Krebs has over ten years of experience working in the drug and alcohol prevention field; ranging locations include Philadelphia\, Lancaster\, Harrisburg\, and Hanover. She has been a trainer for PennCares Support Services for the past seven years\, presenting on an array of topics. Most recently\, she served Dauphin County as the Prevention Program Supervisor\, working to oversee prevention efforts on a grander scale. In 2025\, Lauren decided to take a step away from full-time work to focus on her most important role yet\, Mom of two young girls. Part time\, Lauren also serves as the Kid Ministry Director for Daybreak Church in Mechanicsburg. She holds a Bachelors of the Arts and a Master of Public Health as well as a Certification as a Prevention Specialist. Participants will explore the changes that come with older adulthood and learn strategies to maintain health in these areas or adopt new lifestyle habits to support them. This session will also address the impact of ageism in our culture\, debunk common myths about aging\, and inspire confidence to embrace the journey of aging your way! \n\nObjectives \n\n\nIdentify four key areas of health in aging and ways to start or maintain healthy habits.\n\n\nDevelop actionable strategies to maintain or enhance physical\, social\, cognitive\, and emotional wellness.\n\n\nExamine the impact of ageism on individuals and society.\n\n\nEncourage participants to create a personalized plan for aging well.\n\n\n\nFacilitator\nErin Edwards is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a Master’s degree in Psychology. She currently works for Penn State College of Medicine/Hershey Medical Center within the Division of Autism in the Department of Psychiatry.  Erin has partnered with PennCares Support Services for many years\, developing and delivering trainings that focus on older adults and behavioral health topics. She has extensive experience working with children diagnosed with autism and other mental health conditions across various service settings\, including specialized education programs\, home and community-based BHRS services\, intensive family-based mental health services\, and outpatient care. In addition to her work with children\, Erin has supported adults with autism and co-occurring mental health diagnoses in community\, home\, and workplace environments. Her areas of expertise also include hoarding behaviors\, anxiety\, depression\, and suicide-related concerns. In her supervisory roles\, Erin has provided a wide range of trainings to direct care staff\, emphasizing practical intervention strategies and approaches to reduce caregiver frustration and fatigue. \n\nQuestions?\nContact Allison Fisher at trainings@penncares.org.
